Customer References, Rating and Reviews for K.C. Customs
Creativity in Every Custom Remodeling Project

It is easy to think that “no one will give a poor reference”.

But what if the person you speak with gives an “unenthusiastic” or “lame” review? This should make you wonder.

Building a new home or taking on major home remodeling projects like kitchens, baths and additions are a big investment and often are done to fulfill a lifelong dream.

Thoroughly checking out a contractor’s references, ratings and reviews is a must before you sign.

K.C. Customs & Remodeling, Inc. is a Design Build company – we first design your home remodeling project and then build it.

We provide home remodeling services in the Bay Area with a focus on kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, room additions, whole house renovations and new home construction.

We normally provide 20+ references and encourage you to speak to as many as you need to feel comfortable with us.

Most contractors will provide 3 references. Considering that most will complete 10 to 15 projects a year they should be able to find at least 3 satisfied clients.

We recommend that you ask for at least 15 references and call each one. This will give you a clear picture of the home remodeling or home renovation company’s reputation and service.

You can use the questions below to check out any contractor you seriously consider hiring. If this seems like a lot of work, it is a lot better than realizing that you hired the wrong contractor when your old kitchen is in the dumpster.

The questions were created by a company that has spent years advising and educating both homeowners and residential contractors on professional business practices.

They recommend that you prepare a list of 5 to 8 questions to ask each person you call. Your goal should be to get ratings on: communication, attention to detail, professionalism, adherence to price and time. It is also very important to confirm what type of project that the contractor completed. Being prepared for the reference calls will give you a quick way to determine who is better.

Suggested questions you may want to ask:

  • Did they start and finish as promised?
  • Was the final price the same as the proposal price? If it wasn’t, ask for an explanation
  • How did they handle issues or concerns you voiced?
  • Were they always courteous to everyone in your home and on the project?
  • Was your home kept safe and orderly each day?
  • Have you recommended them to someone else? If they haven’t ask if they would.
  • Why did you choose them and not another contractor?

Add any other questions that are important to you to this list.

We hope that you will find this information useful in your evaluation of every contractor you consider for your project.
